SANGU Gas Fields – First Off-Shore Gas Fields of Bangladesh in the Bay of Bengal – was visited by Petrobangla Officials on April 18, 1998 for inauguration.

  • Status: Engr Abul KM Shamsuddin, Senior General Manager, Petroleum Concession Division (PCD), Petrobangla, hosts the inaugural ceremony of Operation of SANGU Gas Field – First Off-Shore Gas Field of Bangladesh in the Bay of Bengal on April 18, 1998. Mr. Richard Heaton, CEO of Cairn Energy UK Ltd was the other partner of the ceremony.
  • The picture shows Petrobangla & Cairn Energy Officials in the eve of departure from Patenga Airport to Sangu Gas Fields by helicopter.
  • Petrobangla team was consists of, among others, Mr. Md. Mosharraf Hossain, Chairman Petrobangla / Syed Anwar ul Haque, Director, Mines & Mineral / Lt. Col (Retd) SM Waliullah, Director Planning / Muinul Ahsan, M.D. GTCL / Kh Mominul Haque, GM BGSL / Engr Abul KM Shamsuddin (myself), Sr GM PCD /  Jahangir Kabir, GM PCD /  GM Production & Marketing / Quazi Shahidul Islam, GM Reservoir Study Cell / Engr M. A. Wahed GM BGSL / Rehanuddin Ahmed, Manager ESD.
  • Cairn Energy UK Ltd was represented by Richard Heaton with other 3 officials including M. R. Islam Local Associate.
  • First Birth Anniversary of Sangu Gas Field Operation in the year-1999: [SANGU – 1st Offshore Gas Field of Bangladesh].
  • Period-June 1999: Venue: Sangu Gas Processing Plant at Salimpur, Fouzdarhat, Chittagong. Opposite of BGSL City Gate Station.
  • Following Key Personnel from Petrobangla, Bakhrabad Gas System Ltd (BGSL) and Cairn Energy UK Ltd attended:
